Hole’d Baguettes are Big in Japan

Americans have Pie, the Japanese have Hole’d Baguettes. The newest food sensation in Japan involves hollowing out the center of baguettes and filling them with even more suggestive fillings like sausages and cheese. The website is in Japanese but the bread is apparenly available in Soft and Regular varieties (apparently ‘Hard’ was inciting too many sniggers).

Thanks to George for the heads up.

Funny thing. When I was a child (about 20 years ago)there was a take-out in our city (southern Germany) with exactly the same equipment. They sold us the result as hot dogs. But hole’d baguettes certainly sounds way better. ;)

Yes, Ecki - a fancy name for bread with holes + sausages. Nice site btw, but my German is terrible. Ich sprechen ein bisschen aber sehr schrecklich.
