Batman Guitars

Ok, so the movie was great. But you know what would have been better? If Batman picked up his guitar and played some licks. Shred some Malmsteen. Rock a bit of Dragonforce. Then kick the Joker’s ass. Batman wouldn’t look out of place at a Goth concert anyway, so in the spirit of scenes that never existed, here are some Batman themed guitars the Boss (our boss, not Springsteen) found on the internet.

First off is the Wing-Bat Guitar designed by George Barris, the creator of the Batmobile from the 60’s TV show. The retro Bat-vibe is definitely apparent here with a scalloped wing design and a “turbine power boost exhaust”. Produced by Hallmark Guitars, this baby is probably (more…)

Kuala Lumpur Feels The Euphoria

Building on the success of Ministry of Sound Singapore, MoS seeks to extend its line of franchise clubs in the region with the newly opened Euphoria. Clubs in Kuala Lumpur have a relatively short lifespan and Ministry of Sound will look to its brandname and strong reputation for good music to lure clubbers. Featuring a twin-scene layout, partygoers should expect to see two differing genres of music rocking the club. ‘Euphoria by Ministry of Sound’ is located at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa and opens 2nd July 2008.

Feature: The Pete Teo Interview

Last weekend, Infidel Media was privileged to grill Malaysian singer/songwriter/actor Pete Teo on his newest project, Malaysian Artistes for Unity (MAFU). MAFU, featuring a star studded cast of Malaysian celebrities and media, has produced ‘Here In My Home’, an anti-racism national unity song and music video. Working with a budget of zero has not hampered the quality of the final product which is now available free for download online.

As expected, Pete is one smart cookie (some of you may require a dictionary). Read the whole interview after the jump and make sure you don’t miss the music video at the end of the interview.

Infidel Media: Perhaps not since Sudirman have we seen a strong social awareness in Malaysian music. What’s taken Malaysian artists so long to make a stand?

Pete Teo: Good question. I have no idea why. Though I suspect it has something to do with fear. Race relations in this country has wavered between the ‘Malaysia Truly Asia’ type feel-good campaign to periodic race supremacists’ rhetoric. This creates uncertainty and fear amongst the people from all communities. It is hard for artistes to publicly take a socially aware stand when the ground might shift whenever certain politicians feel it is politically expedient to shift it. (more…)

Weezer cashes in on internet “celebrities”

Fading internet stars got to extend their 15 minutes in Weezer’s new music video “Pork and Beans”. The video features Numa Numa, Chocolate Rain, and everyone else who’s wasted your time on YouTube (no Rick Astley, sorry ladies). The song is decidedly ‘meh’, vanilla listening that’s easy on ears and light on everything else. Frivolous entertainment. But that’s the whole point of internet memes right? (ed note: Damn, 12 hours later after writing this post the viral song is still in my head)

Also catch the Southpark episode where all the internet stars kill each other.
